LIGHT AIRCRAFT PILOT'S COURSE (LAPL)

This is the first basic NON-PROFESSIONAL aeronautical licence. A LAPL for aeroplanes allows to act as pilot in command (PIC) on two classes of aircraft: either a single-engine piston aeroplane (land) or touring motor glider (TMG) with a maximum take-off mass of 2000 kg or less, carrying a maximum of 3 passengers, with no more than 4 persons on board.

LAPL holders will only be licensed to act as PIC in the class and variant
of aircraft in which they passed the skill test, unless they complete
further training.

LAPL holders can only carry passengers after getting the licence and also completing 10 hours of flight time as PIC.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 17 years at the time of the final exam.
  • Class 2 Medical Certificate.

Flight Training:
30 hours flight time in aeroplanes.
Out of these hours the requirements include: a minimum of 6 hours solo flight in aeroplanes under the supervision of an authorised flight instructor, including 3 hours solo cross country flight, plus a single cross country flight of at least 150 Km. (80 nautical miles), during which full stop landings will be carried out at one different aerodrome.

Course Programme:

  • Ground School Phase: 100 hours over a period of 13 weeks
  • Practical Phase: It usually takes15 weeks to fly all the 30 hours.
  • Flights are carried out at Requena Aerodrome (Valencia).
